Get involved in a predator free Franklin – conservation journey

“He taonga te whenua, he kaitiaki tāngata”

"The land is a treasure, and people are its guardians"

Whether you have a few hours a month or want to make conservation part of your everyday life, there's a place for you in Te Ara Hīkoi.

From setting traps in your backyard to joining restoration projects, every action makes a difference.

How would you like to help?

I want to start at home

Get free traps, training, and ongoing support to protect native wildlife right from your own property. Every backyard trap contributes to Franklin-wide predator control. Remove invasive weeds and plant native species to provide food and shelter for birds and insects.

We can help you out with advice and equipment to get started:

I want to join a local conservation group

Conservation works best together. Connect with community groups across Franklin working on predator control, restoration, and native planting. Find a group near you and start making local impact.

I want to volunteer

Join planting days, weed-busting events, and community workshops. Meet like-minded people, learn new skills, and contribute to hands-on conservation projects.

I represent a school or business

Schools, landowners, businesses, and organisations can collaborate with Te Ara Hīkoi on conservation projects. Let's work together to create landscape-scale change.

I want to support to kaupapa

Donations and sponsorships help provide traps, training, and resources to communities across Franklin. Your support makes conservation accessible to everyone.

Ready to make a difference?

Whatever your skills, interests, or availability, there's a meaningful way for you to contribute to Franklin's conservation future. Together, we're creating healthier ecosystems, stronger communities, and a lasting legacy for generations to come.
