Find your local conservation community

Across Franklin, thousands of people are coming together to care for the places they love...

Whether you're passionate about predator control, restoring native habitats, tackling pest plants, or simply looking to make a difference close to home, there's a community group ready to welcome you.

Te Ara Hīkoi supports a growing network of community-led conservation groups working throughout Franklin and northern Waikato. Every group is unique, responding to the needs of its local environment and the people who call it home.

Some groups focus on predator control across large rural landscapes. Others restore streams, wetlands and forests, protect coastal habitats, organise planting days, control invasive weeds, or create opportunities for neighbours, schools and volunteers to connect with nature.

Together, these groups are building healthier ecosystems, stronger communities, and a more resilient future for our region.
