Some awesome work has been going on across Orere Kawakawa Bay, but to get the job done, we need everyone in the game.
Why this project matters
Stretching along the eastern shores of the Hauraki Gulf, and bordered by beautiful beaches, estuaries and native bush, the Orere and Kawakawa Bay communities are working together to protect one of our region's most treasured coastal landscapes.
From restoring waterways and wetlands to caring for nesting shorebirds such as the New Zealand dotterel, local volunteers are helping create healthier habitats where native wildlife can flourish alongside thriving communities.
